Deformology: Distant Relative  (Detail)
by: Anthony Cianciolo
6 X 3 in.

I am an artist at heart.

Since as far back as I can remember I have been creating art. My initial journey began as an extremely sensitive kid obsessed with monsters and a deep-seated urge to bring them to life. I would constantly draw these creatures from my subconscious and could be left alone for many hours at a time as long as pencil and paper were within arm's reach.

Eventually my childhood passion for fantasy and the macabre led me to seek formal training. After completing a double art major in Painting and Illustration, I explored numerous creative art endeavors including:
  • participating in individual and group shows,

  • apprenticing under several established fine art painters,

  • contributing to community art fundraising organizations,

  • working in a commercial studio environment with a fifteen-year focus on high-end 2D/3D animation,

  • developing my own private practice as a freelance artist and teacher,

  • conceiving, designing, fabricating, and manufacturing my own product line of stainless steel magnetic jewelry.
This broad background in art has brought me to writing, directing, and producing a documentary feature film. This is a childhood dream come true. It has been by far the most demanding, challenging, and truly rewarding art path I have ever ventured into. I am one year into the development phase on my film and have been hard at work on R&D, fundraising, and recruiting the key players.

Recently I pitched my film idea to the San Francisco Film Society, and I am proud to announce that they are supporting the project and have eagerly committed to being my fiscal sponsor. If you are interested in learning more about this film project, please contact me.

In closing, I am extremely grateful and fortunate to have been blessed with loving, supportive and encouraging parents who gave me the courage to dream huge, work hard, feed my creativity and love the journey no matter what the outcome. To this day the creative seed planted by my parents is still growing and has become the core of my being as an artist.

Sincerely-
